The Big Island
This was the best time I've ever had in Hawaii. We stayed at the Fairmont on Kona, I played while Ruth worked! I got to go where-ever and when-ever the mood hit me.
Favorite Activities: Lounging on the white sand beach with the turtles at our hotel, learning Hawaiian basket weaving, and jumping in the car and just driving. I got to explore everything from rainforest to ancient hieroglyphics.
My Favorite Spots: Punalu'u (The Black Sand Beach), Lapakahi (Ancient Fishing Village), Ahalanui (Natural Ocean Thermal Pond), and last but certainly not least Kilauea (Youngest, Most Active Volcano on Hawaii).
Must Do: Visit Kilauea after dark and watch the lava make its way down the slope to the ocean. You can either go to the park and hike to a good vantage point or take your car to the turn around point on Hy 130.
