McWay Waterfall. Despite visiting there area since we were kids, we didn't discover this jewel until 2005. Head to Big Sur on Hwy 1, park at the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park parking lot and hike west on the Waterfall Trail towards the ocean. You'll pass tjhrough a short tunnel (you'll be passing under Hwy 1) and then follow the dirt trail up to the Overlook Point. The best view of the Waterfall comes before you reach the Overlook. Be sure to continue on to the Overlook to take in the beauty of the California Coastline. And if you go in December or January take time to sit, relax, and maybe spot some whales. - Dora
