I got my latest PC World mag today which featured an article called, "100 Incredibly Useful Websites." To my surprise they included six travel planing sites which was kind of exciting from a tech rag! I'd only visited 2 out of the 6 myself so I thought I'd share
www.tripit.com - planning revolving around itineraries for you schedule junkies. Allows for collaboration and integrates maps/directions unlike my current fave travelmuse.com. However, the UI (oh that's user interface - sorry my techie side is showing) is not as slick and easy to use as travelmuse so I'm not converting just yet.
www.kayak.com - expedia.com combined with user input. The UI looks nice but I'll have to remember to try this when booking my next trip.
www.tripadvisor.com - I currently use tripadvisor soley for their "cities I've been too" app. I love being able to *pin* the places i've been, am going, and can give advise on. I've yet to use their other features but the article said their user reviews are extremely helpful.
www.roadsideamerica.com - I'd never heard of this site either but I love the concept. It's a guide for roadtrip attractions by state. We love taking road trips but that's kind of been put on hold of late due to the cost of fuel. still nice to know this site is out there.
www.planeteye.com - this one is interesting and I am planing to play with it a little more. seems like a viable alternative to travelmuse.com but not quite as easy to use. which means travelmuse had me planning a trip within minutes and this site is taking longer than that to understand. however the UI looks good and the "travel pack" premise is worth exploring.
www.lonelyplanet.com - I think of this as one big review site but it's never really enticed me to explor further. however, it seems really good if you're prepared for in depth discussions with people who have "been there."
What are your favorite travel sites? Please share!
